The Many Faces of Eastern State Penitentiary

Location: Eastern State Penitentiary; Philadelphia, PA

Date: July 15, 2006

According to SciFi Channel’s Ghost Hunters, Eastern State is riddled with paranormal activity, so we had to check it out. We took the guided tour and heard the amazing history of the place.

Originally it operated on the theory that total solitude and labor while in prison was the best way to change a person’s behavioral patterns. It housed some notorious inmates, including Al Capone, and because of its past it has great potential for paranormal activity.

While we had no physical activity during our visit, we did find some very interesting things in the photographs I took. In a couple we got typical orbs that we aren’t so sure what to do with. Are they real energy or just camera tricks?

One of the orbs did seem rather odd because of its brightness and its close proximity to Mitch. In the same picture a similar orb is floating behind a woman’s back.

The real interesting picture came from me “taking a picture of the back of my dad’s head.” Actually, he was looking in a broken window in Cellblock 2, and I thought it would be cool to see if anything looked back. Well, it did… or rather, they did.

No one even noticed the peculiar array of faces until we got home and printed it out. In the middle of the glass is what seems to be a young man in some type of dress coat, and above him is an older gentleman with dark hair. Those two stand out the most, but if you look close enough you might find a few more.
The most distinctive of the faces is circled in red.

All of us noticed the faces instantly, and without being told to look for them, as did several other people we’ve shown the picture to. So, are the people really looking back, or are they a very elaborate trick of the mind… but if they are a result of mind games, why does everyone see the exact same faces?

Hayley.
